ARM News Guide

ARM News played a key role in the formative years of recreation management from 1970 to 1982.  It is an amazing chronicle of –

  • the practicalities of sports centre management in the first decade of centres, of the developing recreation management scene,
  • and of the important character and role of the Association of Recreation Managers (ARM) during 12 years of its life – representing 1,100 of the UK’s new cohort of sports centre and recreation managers.

The Association and its members were leading players in the ultimate professional amalgamation into the Institute of Leisure and Amenity Management, and subsequently ISPAL, which led eventually to CIMSPA.

Notes:

  1. Editions 1, 6, 8 and 10 are missing – but rumours are that the editors couldn’t count in those days as Edition 12 said incorporating 8 & 10!!
  2. The limiting size of PDFs for the website has meant that the original digitalised PDF of all editions now has an 8-way split, consequently some editions span more than one PDF.
